open vs copy spreadsheet in ios numbers app

I set up several excel spreadsheets to transfer to the Numbers iOS app via iTunes. Numbers offers no options to 'open' the files, whether their file type is from Numbers or Excel. But....I can 'copy' them.

Is 'copy' the newly obscured word for 'open' in the app? e.g., do I have to 'copy' a spreadsheet to open it?

Hi Donot,

'copy' is what you will be doing. When you keep files in icloud you would be opening the file and it would be kept synced across your devices. I like to keep my spreadsheets local so I am copying them back and forth with iTunes. When I want to send a file back to my Mac, I overwrite the file in iTunes and then save it from there to my Mac, overwriting the file there. Changes made on the Mac get loaded into iTunes, overwriting that file and before I copy it to iOS I delete the original or I will have Numbers Document and Numbers Document 2 on the iPod. A bit of a hassle but the price you pay for giving up the 'seamless' iCloud experience.
